Next Grant Deadline -  August 20th

 If your organization is a 501c3 charitable organization, consider applying for a grant.  We look forward to sharing with the community the proceeds of our Reverse Raffle and Purse Bingo events.  Please read the guidelines for grants on this website and see if your organization qualifies.  While most grants are around $500, exceptions are made for one time projects meeting community needs.


Pals Grants for 2025 so far




Portsmouth Little Theater - Mural Restoration.  $400 Approved.
Funds will be used to restore the mural on the exterior of the South side of the PLT Building facing 52 East.  The mural reads "Portsmouth Little Theater, Inc." but is faded beyond recognition.
Rarden Daily Bread

Rarden Daily Bread Soup Kitchen - Food for Meals.   $5,000 Approved
Funds will be used to buy ingredients not available from the Freestore Food Bank to low-income individuals in the community.  They began serving meals in 2020 during COVID.  Since then, 150,000 meals have been served.  On average, 150 meals are served each day - 365 days of the year.  Our donation will pay for 1,250 meals at a cost of $4 per meal.

 In 2024, PALS donated the following.

$1,750 to Watch Me Grow for a projector, projector screen and stand to support Youth Movie Nights at the Fellowship Garden. 

$6,000 to support the Shawnee State VRCFA Performing Arts Series in bringing two musicals - Shrek and Pretty Woman - to the Portsmouth area. 

$1,000 to the Portsmouth Little League to purchase Catcher's Equipment.

$1,200 to Sierra's Haven for Parvo Treatment for Shelter Dogs.

$1,000 - Portsmouth Area Arts Council for Costumes for Sponge Bob the Musical

$1,000 to the St. Francis Catholic Charitable Organization for their Summer program to provide bread for sandwiches.

$500 to the Animal Welfare League to buy pet food for their pantry.

PALS Supports Flood Victims!

 Our latest donation on October 10th was $3,000 to the Salvation Army to offer assistance to flood victims in our area.  This brings Pals donations to $205,636 since organizing in 2007 with a goal to "help make the Portsmouth area a better place".  These donations are only possible through community support of our two major fundraisers.  Please plan to join us in 2025.

Pals Donations to the Community Reach $216,536

With the recent donation of $5,000 to Rarden Daily Bread Soup Kitchen and $400 to Portsmouth Little Theater, PALS now has donated $216,536 back to the community since 2007.  In addition to the generosity of our members who donate purses and gift cards for fundraisers, many thanks go to the community for supporting our 2 fundraisers each year which allows PALS to give it back to the Portsmouth community for creative and much needed projects.



 2024 Pals Purse Bingo a Success!

 The 2024 PALS Purse Bingo was a great success! Over two hundred and fifty people bought tickets and had a great time playing bingo, winning designer purses, eating hot dogs with homemade sauce and sloppy joes as well as popcorn and candies from Jets. In addition, attendees participated in a split the pot resulting in a $640 prize and a Money Purse raffle.  Our winner won a designer purse basket and $500 cash.  Thanks to our PALS members for donating their time, purses and door prizes for this event.  Its great to be a member of PALS!

 

New PALS President - Teri Webb



Thanks to outgoing President Tami Davis (left) for her two years of excellent service.  We all appreciate her leadership as PALS continues to give back to the community.  PALS enthusiastically welcomes Teri Webb - our new president - who will serve for the next two years.  We are with you Teri!
